[SPOILERS] Annabel Monaghan - Dolly All the Time
- Perfect summer read with the coastal setting. Was in a New England summer kind of mood the entire time I was reading it (though I was mainly just working).
On the Characters
So happy to have so many great characters to love - Dolly herself, her family, Naomi, Busy and Victoria.
Enjoyed reading about Dolly and her go-getter attitude because I'm the entire opposite. Single mum, responsible eldest daughter and having three jobs. Gods.
Favourite thing Stewart did for Dolly was when he dropped what he was doing to help pick Gus up when Dolly was tied up with Christopher at the dentist. Damn.
On the Plot
Not so hot about that 'rift' thing that happened in the last 1/3 or so; kind of spoiled my experience leading up to it. On the bright side, it made the downward coast to the reconciliation + the end all the easier to read. BUT I've never really liked that last act misunderstanding/fight that tend to happen. Bleagh.
The fact that Dolly remained believing in Stewart's goodness even after that was quite interesting since I would probably have written him off myself. Also wish Stewart had done more to reach out to Dolly after that; but then again, I'm totally like Stewart when it comes to not reaching out, so....
